• Three-Day March to Crete
This protest action that took over 3 days and 40 miles of marching from Chicago to Crete, Illinois in 2012 ended in a victory, as the Crete board of trustees voted unanimously against a proposed immigrant detention center in their town. Labor Beat believes it is important to replay this video from our 2012 archives in light of the current crisis over the huge influx of immigrant children across our southern borders.

So far, President Obama has responded to this problem by pushing to repeal Congressional protections for unaccompanied children, so it will be easier for him to get them out of the U.S. This is consistent with his policies back in 2012 of being the biggest immigrant deporter in U.S. history. The lesson for us: united action can make an impact.
